Antibacterial - Antibiotic - Beta Lactamic - Cephalosporimic - Sterile Powder for Reconstitution

FORMULA:
Every vial contains:
Ceftiofur (as sodium salt)                      4 g

DESCRIPTION
Rheinfur 4 is a sterile powder for reconstitution to be used in injections for bovines, equines, porcines and one-day old baby chicks.

INDICATIONS: 
The product is indicated for its use against pneumonias of bacterial origin, shipping fever and bovine foot rot, and bacterial pneumonia or porcine pleuropneumonia.
For the treatment of respiratory infections in equines, associated with Streptococcus Zooepidemicus.
In poultry, the product is administered to combat early mortality problems due to infections in the viteline membrane, omphalitis, colibacillosis, pasteurellosis, salmonellosis and staphylococcus-related infections.
DOSAGE AND USO:
The product is administered by way of deep intramuscular injection in bovines, equines and porcines; in the case of one day-old baby chickens, the injection is subcutaneous, in the neck area.
The product must be reconstituted with sterile water for injections. 4 g of sterile powder must be diluted with 80 ml of diluent (sterile injectable water). Each ml of the solution obtained contains sodium Ceftiofur equivalent to 50 mg of Ceftiofur 
Bovines: 1 mg/kg of body weight.
Equines: 2 mg/kg of body weight.
Porcines: 3 mg/kg of body weight, in cases of severe pneumonia the dose is 5 mg/kg of weight, equivalent to 1 ml of reconstituted product every 10 kg of body weight.
One-day old chicks: 0.08 to 0.12 mg/chick.
Equivalent to:
Bovines: 1 ml of reconstituted product every 
50 Kg of body weight. 
Equines: 1 ml of reconstituted product every 
25 Kg of body weight.
Porcines: 1 ml of reconstituted product every 
16 Kg of body weight. 
One-day old chicks: One 4 g vial of reconstituted product is enough to administer product to 40,000 baby chicks. The treatment for bovines, equines and porcines must be repeated every 24 hours, during 3 consecutive days. In equines it must be extended 48 hours after the disappearance of clinical signs, up to a maximum of 10 days.
In baby chickens administer product one time only.
Once reconstituted, the product must be used within 12 hours if kept at room temperature (15º -30º C) and it lasts up to 7 days if kept in refrigerator (at a temperature between 2º and 8º C).
WARNINGS:
Keep this and all medicines out of the reach of children.
Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to the drug.
Avoid contact with the product during handling or application.
Take the product out of the package using sterile equipment.
Avoid direct contact of product with skin and mucous membranes.
After handling the product, thoroughly wash skin with lots of water and soap.
In the event of accidental ingestion during large volumes of water and induce vomit. Immediately call a physician.
Do not administer with other products in the same syringe.
Do not administer endovenously to pigs.
In equines, do not administer more than 10 ml per inoculation point.
Shake well before use.
Use Restrictions:
Bovines can be slaughtered 48 hours after the last treatment so as to avoid the consumption of the meat surrounding the inoculation point.
Withdrawal period in pigs: 3 days.
No restriction period in one-day old chicks.
There is no restriction period for milk or milk discarding during lactancy.
Do not use product in equines destined for human consumption.
Keep product at a temperature between 15 and 30 C.
Do not freeze.
